Was doing some research on what wax/process to use. I have been reading the forums and seach functions, and just making myself more confused. I had my Porsche repainted original color with Sikkens Burgundy metalic basecoat/clearcoat. This was done 2 years ago and nothing has been put on the paint. The car has been in the garage and has only been driven 5 of the last 24 months in the summer months. Clearcoat was never wetsanded after clearcoat because to me it looked great. Now its time to put some wax on before taking it out this summer. I live in Vancouver. I usually do my polishing by hand, but do have a electric orbit polisher, but never used it. Suggestions on what to use please. Thanks

Re: WOW, really confused, pls help recommend wax
You polish to get the imperfections out. If you don't see any scratches/swirls/holograms, there is no need to polish. Just wash it carefully using two buckets method and apply wax to protect the finish (by hand).

You have to be careful not to confuse other companies terminology with Meguiars.
With Meguiars, a polish is a product that adds oils to the paint to enhance the gloss and beauty of the paint.
A cleaner is a product to remove dirt from the pores, and in some cases remove swirls.

First off, are you absolutely sure the paint has never been wet sanded? Almost every car with a custom paint job has been wet sanded.
If the paint was indeed never wet sanded, I would get a PC, #83 DACP, and #80 Speed Glaze. These will help remove some of the imperfections if they are there.
If you don't want to mess with that stuff and feel the paint is fine, I would use a coat of Meguiar's cleaner wax - use #66 to remove minor imperfections, #6 to remove minor swirls, and the consumer line type to give the paint a little polish.
Since you have an orbital, use it. Orbitals do a better job of spreading out the product on to the paint. Just like working by hand, orbitals are not able to remove medium and above problems. Depending on your orbital size, pick up some cotton terry bonnets. They can be used for anything. I have used a foam bonnet with pretty good success, but you can not apply cleaners, polishes, or compounds of any sort.Chris
