  • Deep scratches on single stage

I am detailing this single stage paint bmw and it was neglected to say the least. I got the oxidation out and moderate scratches out with orange pad + #83, but deep scratches are still there. Do I need to go with more aggressive pad? I can feel scratches with my nail, but I am afraid to go too far since it is single stage. This car is not meant to be a show piece, but I would like to learn what could be done.

    Process:
    clay
    #83 orange pad
    2.0 swirl remover white pad
    machine glaze black pad
    #21 sealant.

    Thank you!

Sometimes all you can do is improve them. If they are that deep, you will probably need a rotary, and even then, it may be too deep to remove. Remember, the only way to remove a swirl/scratch is to remove the paint around it down to that level. So that could be a lot of paint getting removed, more than you would want.

That's what I am thinking too. I better just leave them and hope that Glaze will fill them in a bit.

      Thanks for advice.
