A Little Help From My Friends

Wasn't that a Beatles song? I have been a Meg's forum member for a couple of months mostly reading and admiring the work efforts and knowledge of the members.

I got a question for y'all from snowy, icy Pittburgh. I just got back my 96' Isuze Rodeo from the collision shop. Let me say that prior to the accident, the truck was in very good condition with no rust. That is amazing for a 10-year old vehicle driven in Pittsburgh and sitting outside as well. So the entire drivers side has been repainted which makes the hood, roof and passenger side look more its age.

What can I do to bring the rest of the truck up-to-speed with the newly painted side?

How are you planning doing the work? By hand or machine?


Wash and then clay the old/original paint, the clean the paint with a paint cleaner like ScratchX by hand or machine polish using M80 Speed Glaze using a dual action polisher.

After the above, apply a couple of coats of your favorite wax/pain sealant.

Or wash and clay the paint and then go over it with ColorX by hand or machine.

Okay then... pretty simple really all you need to do is clear up the old clear coat and restore a smooth surface, these two things will improve the appearance of the older paint to make it better match the new paint.

By hand the best way to bring the paint to the closest match would be to,

• Wash
• Clay
• ScratchX
• Deep Crystal Polish
• Wax of your choice

The most important step will be thoroughly applying and working the ScratchX into and against the paint. If you do this step correctly, the polishing and waxing steps will build on your results and with any luck the paint will look similar to the new paint.

You enjoying this great weather where having here. I know when it comes to detailing a vehicle in the winter season *****. I try to keep my car clean has much as possible.

My three vehicles are totally covered in salt and frozen crud. I think the ground hog was way off. What can we do about this global freezing

You are correct.. After the warm weather. An Ice age always follows. We wont get into that though.
