  • Automatic car wash machine

I am writhing because I need some advice on what products to use for my car. It is a brand new 2007 Scion TC black in color. I just bought my car about a week and a half ago, and yesterday I decided to take my car through an automatic car wash. Afterwards I noticed very fine hair line surface scratches in some sections of my car. You really can’t see them unless you get about 2 to 4 inches away from the car and look at it at a certain angle with light shining on the car. They are practically invisible, but the fact of the matter is that I know they are there. ( I will never again take my car to an automatic carwash) I want to wax my car and I wanted something that would get rid of the hair line surface scratches as well. What products would you recommend?

    Re: Automatic car wash machine

Well I used to take my car through those machine car wash. U'll come out with swirls marks on the whole car. And in certain angle on sunlight u'll see those swirls. I don't go to those machine car wash anymore.

If ur fingernails can catch the scratches, then it's quite a deep scratch. If not & its a very light scrathes or swirls, u could use Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or ColorX or M80 Speed Glaze. Those mentioned above would most probaly get rid or make it less visible. Or u could use Nxt wax to cover it to make it less visible too. Sometimes those light hairline scratches, most waxes can remove it with a bit more pressure rubbing over it. Any chance u could get a photo for us to see, it'll be a more accurate reccommandation. TQ. Happy detailing.

Here is a good link to look over:
Suggested products for taking care of a new car!

      A few others:
How To Remove Swirls By Hand
      Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

I would guess some of the swirls you now see were 'installed' at the dealer and some could very well have come from the car wash. Its quite common to see them on a new vehicle as the dealers don't care for the paint as well as they should. With the right products and techniques and a little work you can remove the swirls, read the posts above you will find some good information there.

      Any other questions?

        Re: Automatic car wash machine

Thanks for all your advice. I have one more question. On the link above on how to take care of a new car there is several steps. They mention on using a cleaner, polish, and wax. I noticed that they recommended the use of deep crystal system steps 1 and 2 (cleaner, polish), but for the wax they recommended the use of other products and they did not include step 3 from the deep crystal system. I was just wondering if the recommended products are better then step 3 from the deep crystal system. I just bought the three step system, but I can return the step 3 if one of the other waxes are better for my car. Thanks in advance for your help.

DC3 is a great product. Mike has said before that Meguiar's would put it up against any other wax on the market today that is selling for the same or even more. Don't waste your time taking it back. You will be greatly satisfied with the results. I started many years ago using Meguiar's products. The very first ones I purchased were the DC series like you. I used them for years until I found the professional line. You won't regret using the products you have. Have fun and post pictures.

I like DC3 a lot. It's really a good product. I just used it last week on my car. M80+GC+DC3.
