  • So I went and bought.........

Hi all, I made a trip to Autozone and got my hands on the following:

    Clay Kit
    Step 1 Paint Cleaner
    ColorX
    ScratchX
    NXT Wax

So, When the weather warms back up Im off to work. I have a guy to buff and polish for me since I have no experience with a buffer. My question is, which of these products(step 1, colorX, scratchX) are supposed to be used before buffing?

Also, (noob question alert) In what manner do you all apply the products on the foam pad with? Up and down motions or in small circles? TIA

If your friend is going to buff the car for you, before he buffs you'll want to wash and clay the car, his buffing will do the rest of the cleaning or instilling swirls depending upon what he's using.

Did you see the new QD, QWD and the Hot Shine at Autozone to? I know the Autozone here sells the new Meguiar's products.

Re: So I went and bought.........

I would probably do it in this order..

        -Wash
        -Clay
        -Step1
        -Colorx
        -NXT

Colorx is a one step product. You probably would of been fine just getting it and not the step1.

What do you mean by "which of these products(step 1, colorX, scratchX) are supposed to be used before buffing?" What is he going to be using when he Buffs? You can use a buffer with all of those products.

sorry I wasn't clear. He has a few polishes that he uses. Ive seen his work and it looks great. So If I only use the colorX, I apply it before the polish right?

Color X is a wax and polish in one.

dangit, I dont know what it is but everything I read seems to contradict in the order steps are done.

Would I be wrong if i:
              clayed
              ScratchX
              Polish
              ColorX
              then NXT?

That should be just fine. You dont need to scratch-x the entire car unless you have some swirls you are wanting to remove. You can use it in certain spots if it only has a few scratches.

Ok, another quick Q. Say After the the polish has been applied. If I still notice any scratches and swirls that ColorX would not remove, is it safe to use scratchX? Will the scratchX remove the polish from the paint and cause me to have to reapply it?
