  • GOLD class wax On top of COLORX??????

Is it okay to put gold class wax on top of colorx? Does the colorx need to cure? Is this a waste of time and money. Should I just use one or the other. (I will be doing it by hand) Thanks

Re: GOLD class wax On top of COLORX??????

You are somehwat comparing two different products.

Gold Class needs the paint to be prepared before using it, so if you dont use ColorX, you will want to use Deep Crystal System steps 1 and 2. Meguiars also recomends 2 coats of wax for even protection, so you will need 2 coats of Gold Class. So the routine will look like this:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay if needed
    3. Clean
    4. Polish
    5. Gold Class
    6. Gold Class

With ColorX, it will look like this:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay if needed
    3. ColorX
    4. Gold Class

So topping ColorX with any of the regular waxes, Gold Class, Nxt, #21, #26, etc is always a nice way to get a quick detail.

ColorX alone works as well, but then you only have one coat of wax instead of the recomended 2.

thanks that was really helpfull. I have a couple more questions. Should i wait a certain time before applying the coat of wax on top of the colorx and is it better to use the liquid gold class wax or the paste. Thanks

No need to wait at all, and whether you use liquid or paste is totally a personal preference. Both will give equal results.

Well, I think the general idea is to wait about 15 - 20 minutes if possible between coats of wax. Some people wait 12 hours for best looks, but I dont have that kind of time to wait.

Using paste or liquid is up to you. I kind of like liquids because I tend to end up getting dirt and gunk in my paste can.

me too, I saved my old can of NXT for my wheels as a rather large windy day came up and some debris got into my can of NXT, lucky it was almost gone and I can see the debris for the most part.

                hi!
i think scooping out the wax with a clean spoon onto a clean plate helps.
Replace the can lid and its safe from dirt!
that way your applicator pads wont contaminate your can of wax.

This is just another reason why my personal preferance is liquid.
