  • Different products or different strokes for different folks?

    Hi

I am trying to update my detailing kit with bulk products from the professional range but can't seem to decide between what appears to be similar products. Please advise on the following:

    1. I need a product for treating the trim and tyres:
    All Season Dressing vs Hyper Dressing;

    2. Looking for a Quik Detailer type of product to prepare the car between wax applications:
Last Touch Spray Detailer vs Final Inspection spray

    3. I am looking for a wax that's more durable than carnauba wax:
M21 Synthetic Sealant vs NXT Tech Wax

    4. Microfiber cloth:
Ultimate Wipe (white cloth) vs Supreme Shine Microfiber

    5. What product can I use for cleaning mags? I have clear coat mags on my Volkswagen Golf (Rabbit in the US - I thingk) 5 GTI. I have been using Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner:
All Purpose Cleaner vs Wheel Brightner

    Thanks

    Well, lets see...

    1. All-Season Dressing will be quite glossy, but will be more durable than Hyper-Dressing. The Hyper Dressing is dilutable, so you will get more out of it, and you can vary the glossiness by how much you dilute.

    2. Havent used those yet. Tough call though.

    3. M21.

    4. I dont know if we can even get the Ultimate Wipes anymore here. I only have Supreme Shines.

    5. I havent used Wheel Brightener yet, I tend to use the Multi-Piece wheel cleaner on my wheels. After cleaning, since they are clearcoated, you can treat them like paint and clay/clean/wax if you like.

But All-Purpose Cleaner and a foaming head sprayer is great to have on hand no matter what. Great product for all kinds of stuff.

Hyper Dressing is very popular because you can control the appearance it delivers by dilluting however it is water based and won't hold up as long as All Season Dressing which will last longer in rainy weather or when washed.

      2. Looking for a Quik Detailer type of product to prepare the car between wax applications:
Last Touch Spray Detailer vs Final Inspection spray

Both do the same job, Final Inspection is what is called "Body Shop Safe", which is important if you work where fresh paint is being sprayed. Otherwise, the Last Touch offers more gloss and slickness.

      3. I am looking for a wax that's more durable than carnauba wax:
M21 Synthetic Sealant vs NXT Tech Wax

Most people on this forum and other forums feel that M21 lasts longer than NXT due to the water beading they see. R&D states that NXT is Meguiar's best protecting wax; don't confuse "best protecting", with the words, "longest lasting"

      4. Microfiber cloth:
Ultimate Wipe (white cloth) vs Supreme Shine Microfiber

Both work great, see what's available in your market.

      5. What product can I use for cleaning mags? I have clear coat mags on my Volkswagen Golf (Rabbit in the US - I thingk) 5 GTI. I have been using Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner:

If you have clear coated wheels, that is wheels with a clear layer of paint on them, the you shouldn't be useing a cleaner made for cleaning CHROME. You will damage the clear coat paint. Stop immediately until you confirm what kind of wheel you're working on, or what kind of coating it has.

All Purpose Cleaner vs Wheel Brightner

Both will work, but you need to find out for CERTAIN, what kind of wheel you're working on, or what kind of coating it has.

      Thanks

Thanks for the response Mike and Mur1525

I am not sure of the exact spec of the wheels, I have attached a photo below. The Meguiars SA Forum administrator advised me to uset Hot Rims Chrome instead of other Meguiars wheel cleaners. Have a look at the link below:
