Just a quick question, should I use #80 or #5 for the fresh paint? I want to protect my new paint during this winter. It is cold in here and there are some many road salt on the road.
#80 is a cleaner polish and #5 is, I believe, a pure polish. As such, neither will offer you any protection whatsoever. But let's clarify something here - what exactly do you mean by "fresh paint"? Is this a fresh repaint from a body shop, or is this just "fresh and new from the factory"?
If it's fresh from a body shop they you really should give the paint 30 days to outgas (double check with the body shop for their recommendation) and then protect it with something like NXT, #21, Gold Class, etc.
If it's fresh from the factory then you can wax it immediately, again using either NXT, #21, Gold Class, etc.

It is a fresh new paint. As I know, new fresh paint must take at 90 days before waxing because the paint is still soft and needs time to cure. I did a search in the forum, most people do not recommend waxing because the wax would block the paint "breathing".
Yes, this is true. While waxing is not recommended until the paint has cured, you are fine applying a pure polish to add some beauty. But a pure polish will offer no protection, so keep that in mind.
Having said that.......subjecting a completely unprotected car to a potentially harsh Canadian winter is probably worse than waxing fresh paint in order to give it some protection.

M80 actually contains a synthetic polymer that offers a little protection.
So, #80 is breathable? I don't mind getting the paint to get dirty due to the road salt but I need something to protect the curing period during this winter!
I know the other option is put the car in the garage to restore but I cannot because I need the car for work.
