Was wondering which method is the best at minimizing scratches, since anything involving touching the car will scratch it to say the least...

Re: Best way to dry after wash?
Do the final rinse by sheeting the water (take the nozzle off the hose). Blot, don't wipe with Meg Water Magnet or your favorite WW. Blotting will minimize the potential for scratching, marring or introducing swirl induced drying.

If you really want to take it to an extreme you can rinse with demineralized water and dry with a high velocity air blower. (It sounds over the top but there are guys that do it.)
Me, I use waffle weave microfiber towels like Meg's Water Magnet.
PC.

Ditto on the high flow air
I told my wife I needed a "**** & vac" Leaf blower, which does a good job on leaves --- BUT --- it makes a GREAT car dryer. grills, door sills, mirrors, wheel wells, inner tire rims, glass, why the possibilities!
I have a Poulan 2 cycle that produces (they say) 220 MPH, but go out to Ebay and getan electric for $20.00. And follow up with those microfiber towels !

Re: Best way to dry after wash?
I tried out the water magnet today and I didnt like it that much. maybe I am using it wrong but it just seemed to get soaked and then when I would ring it out barely any water would come out and it would stay saturated. It just seemed to spread the water instead of actually soaking it up. then the little bit of leftover water would make water spots on my black paint. I wasnt impressed at all after hearing so many people recommend it.

a) move faster
b) get the majority of water off with one WM, then switch over and (quickly) use a second WM.

i washed the water magnets last night then did as a previous poster said. I used one water magnet to get off the majority of the water and then the 2nd to finish it off. worked alot better than yesterday. I guess I was trying to use it more like a chamois.

Yep.. drying is definitely a two stage process. The first stage is to quickly get the water spots off. The second stage is a final wipe down. Sometimes the final wipe down is done with a QD to really minimize the water spots. I even squirt some QD on the windows, it really works great after a wash.

My method is the water blade to get the big water off first (and fast) followed by finishing up with some mircro fiber! I have always hated the drying process. Maybe I just should invest in a leafblower!!! The neighbors already think I'm crazy for my religous detailing, the leafblower will put them over the edge!!!Cooper Power!

I love my water magnets. I also make it into a two step process. The final rinse down step helps ALOT.
