Choosing The Next Colour For My Car!

Hey guys! I am thinking of changing the colour of my car later this year. Right now, the car is yellow in colour ( colour code is Giallo Modena ). The car will look sooooo brightly yellow during hot afternoons, and quite glossy at low light conditions.

But after detailing my friend's black Honda Civic FD 2006 for a few times, I find that black is a looooot more fun and beautiful to look at, when you like 'em to gloss, shine and reflect!



But then, there's too many cars that's black in colour around! My conundrum now is, I want the next choice of paint on my car, to be able to gloss, shine and reflect almost as good as black, but the colour choice is, obviously not black ( thinking like deep red, dark blue and dark grey here right now ).

Here's a few samples of colours that I like ( I got all of these pictures from the Net ), I hope you guys can give me ideas! Mucha thanks!

Dark grey ( looks very dark to me! ).

Another dark grey, but this one looks less darker than the 1st one.

Mitsu Evo 8 MR, the colour code is Medium Purplish Grey Mica ( ? ). Suspect it's a single stage paint as Mitsu Evo's usually come with single stage paint to reduce weight ( ! ).

Another dark grey.

I presume this is dark blue.

You guys guessed pretty right : yep, I own a Honda Civic EG6 ( JDM ) 1992.

DEEP RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I maintain both white and black cars at home.

For white,I love the gloss, and you can see dirt on paint and dirt IN paint easily, tells u when to polish or use a pre-wax cleaner.

Black, the king of reflections, but defects are very very obvious(if any), and like u said, too common.

Which is why I opt for DEEEP RED!!!!..eye-catching, not too many here poyo,
and the difference between dull neglected red and a detailed, bright, glossy, shiny, reflective, vibrant red is very obvious!

A deep, dark red is second only to black. My personal preference is black because of its potential for shine and reflection, but also, since defects show up so easily, it gives me an excuse to spend all afternoon in the garage. Can't go wrong with red, though.

If not black metallic (i would personally go for it), in my opinion the dark blue looks really nice on that Honda 8)

I really like a dark blue shade. Personally, since I love Porsche colors, I would go with the Porsche Lapis Lazuli. It is a beautiful dark blue metallic. In the bright summer sunlight, it looks black from a distance. But in cloudier days, the blue metallic really pops out.

I agree that since you had so much fun working on the black car, and loved its beauty and shine, then you might want to go with that for yours! You just don't want to kick yourself later and feel like this ---> for not choosing it if that is what you really like best. =) However, if you do decide to rule out black, then my vote would be for deep red.

Mucha thanks for the recommendations. Well, let's see...

Black : about 6 yay's
Deep red : about 4 yay's
Dark blue : about 2 yay's
Silver Metallic : one yay ( err, why Mike? )

The final choice would be a paintwork that gives out that motorsport feel, so I suppose colours like dark gray and deep red do give out that motorsport-ish feel. Yeah, black is the best, but there's way too many black cars around Malaysia! But I don't see dark gray ( like the one on the 1st Civic pic ) or dark red often, or deep blue also for that matter.

Right now my heart is saying : dark grey ( must have the similar tone to the dark grey on that 1st Civic pic, as that colour looks so dark but still, not black! ), as I believe that this colour can still offer the shine, gloss, depth and reflectivity. But, deep red looks a lot more enticing! I do like the red Integra pic, looks sooooo red, the reflectivity was so...wow!

Yah cornflake, I do like black, but again, there's a lot of black cars around Malaysia ( too much, in fact! ). But deep red, oooohhhhhhh, now you don't see that colour often, right?
