  • Printing threads

I often find threads on this site interesting enough to print out and use for later reference. However, while the print size on my computer is perfectly legible and easy to read, when I print out the article, the print is tiny. Is there a setting on my computer/isp/printer (HP 4110 a-i-o) that I can change that will enlarge the print size on material my printer is regurgitating? I access MOL through AOL, if that matters. Any help is much appreciated.

      Re: Printing threads

Look at the picture below and then locate the Text Link that reads,

      Thread Tools

and click on the little arrow pointing down. Next click on the option to Show Printable Version.

If you've already tried this then it probably has to do with AOL. Perhaps you can have a buddy with a normal ISP print it for you?

Mike, thanks for the reply. I did this and it simply brought up my question and your responses. Is there something there I'm supposed to adjust?

          Re: Printing threads

I assume that you do not need to print the pictures. If you are using IE as your browser, once you click printable version in thread tools, click on "edit", then "select all", then "edit", then "copy". You can then open a blank Word document (or whatever text editor you use), paste there and then "edit", "select all" and change the font, size, etc. Play with it.

Except for the work-around that ronniejay suggested, we're not sure of any other way to print out a thread. We tried it from our computer and it worked just fine, that is normal size, easy to read text.

Must be a setting on your computer? Maybe some Techie Guy will chime in with some further insight.

              Save a tree:

              -Print using PrimoPDF
-Save the file to your computer
-Get a delicio.us account and just bookmark it.

Last but not least, printing to paper is soooo old school.

I am using Firefox and it works fine.

Make sure you have the correct paper size selected, you can also adjust the margin settings to increase the printable area on the paper.

Old school it might be but at least then you can read it when ever you want to (without haveing to lug your computer around) or you can give to a friends/person that really needs or should read it.

I use my share of the Daintree Rain Forest in Far North QLD every year with the amount of hard copies I print out.

I really do appreciate all of the responses! Am working on a fix now that will be permanent. Old school?? You're talking to a guy who is still mourning the death of Lash Larue.

                      Re: Printing threads

We hope you figure out how to print the threads that interest you the most.

Just to note, we're watching this thread and it will not turn into an argument over saving the trees. If it does, the people involved with that segment of the discussion will be shown the door.

                      Thanks

Hey if you like clutter.. have at. I like being able to find things later on. I can type a few words into my desktop search software and find what I was looking for instead of looking for a piece of paper. In fact I scan lots of paper things to put into the computer for the same reason. Filing cabinets are for goverment paperwork

Like we said previously, DONT turn this into a flamewar over personal preferences like to print, or ot to print.
