Is there any harm in waxing (NXT) once a week?

    Re: Waxing Frequency

No harm but it may be a bit of a waste of time. Why not use NXT spray booster wax every week but give it a full NXT treatment (paste or liquid) every month or every other month, depending on environmental exposure, etc.

I think none too, except wax buildup but you can fix that by claying or cleaning the car.

Mike-in-Orange is right. you should maintain your waxed car with a spray wax or quick detailer, and wax it every 2 months (with liquid or paste NXT) if you keep maintaining it with a spray wax.

there is no such thing as waxing too much, if you have the time wax away.

When I was in Southern California, my waxing frequency was 88.1 FM (KLON -Jazz).

Up here in Cody, Wyoming we have both kinds of music on the radio: Country and Western! I don't have a waxing frequency anymore.

I was just wondering if too much was bad. Thanks!

I know that Mike once posted a way to test if you still have wax on your car.
From what I remember, after you've washed the car, you take an Ultra Plush Super Terry (not a microfiber) and then fold the four corners into the middle, giving you a smaller square.
Then you bring the new corner into the middle again, but hold them together, giving you a sort of compact Super Terry pad.
              Push down & twist.
If it squeeks, then you need to wax. No squeek means it has wax.

Anyone can feel free to correct me or post a link to that thread (I couldn't find it). It had some pics in it too.

As for your question about it too much wax being "harmful", from what I've come to understand, it wouldn't hurt, but it would just be a waste of product if your car has a layer of wax on it already.
I'd think that it's the same reason why Megs only suggests two coats of wax. Additional coats are don't really help.

                Big picture,

If you're car is a daily driver, and you're washing it once a week, then waxing once a week will insure a show room new look all of the time.

If you're car is tucked under a soft car cover in a garage and only sees the light of day once in a while, then you don't need to wax very often.

I too wax every Sunday. I've been doing it for a year now. So far no problems. My car is outside 24/7. I'll clay it every few months too. My problem is I want to feel the slick surface all the time. Call me crazy.
