  • Malm's Carnauba Wax

Hi guys! Does anyone know if Malm's Carnauba Wax is any good? I was given a tub of pure paste wax for Christmas by my friend last month and have not tried it yet, just wanted to know if anyone in the forum has had experience with this brand. From what I saw in their website the small tub of paste wax goes for $125 .

Just wanted to ask for some inputs from the forum before I use it on my car since i have been a 100% Meguiar's user for quite some time.

    Thanks!

Clean and polish the hood of your car and then do a side-by-side test against you're favorite wax, you decide which one you like best, then you'll know the true value.

      Re: Malm's Carnauba Wax

I had no idea that Malm's was that expensive! I tried it back in the 80s and it was the liquid form so I guess it was much less expensive (about $49) in the liquid form.

It was just another ordinary carnauba wax to me, nothing exceptional. You certainly should try it and see what you think. I checked their site and there is no money back guarantee on it. It has no cleaners in it so you will need to prep the paint accordingly.

FWIW, Malms says that their carnauba does not need to cure. Only "amino functional silicones" cure when exposed to humidity in air. I thought that humidity slowed down, or interfered with, the curing process. So if I interpret what they are saying correctly, it would be beneficial to take your car out in the rain as it makes the polymer cure faster.

Depending on what's in your detailing arsenal, I would compare it to #26.

The Malm's Extreme carnuaba wax, is a blend of both white (ivory) and yellow carnuaba. Its a mix so it might be a great wax. I would try it but ill get it later eventually. It also is a great gift to get this paste wax man thats a good friend you got there!!

Good idea, I'll give it a shot next weekend and test it against #21.

          Thanks Mike!

I've seen it but the price is brutal! NXT topped with #16 gave me outstanding results and #16 was VERY easy to work with.

Sorry for the delay guys after almost 2 years I decided and had the guts to give this wax a try. Two months before applying this wax my car was clayed and waxed with #21 version 1, all I did now was to apply 2 coats of Malm's wax. Sorry Mike I was not able to do the side by side test.
                      Here are some Pictures.

I was a bit surprised on how easy it was to work with but you have to apply it really really thin just like #16.
