Re: Pressure washer might damage tyres
I believe it... It does take a little common sense when using a power washer and the proper pressure and wand tip. We have one at work that could easily damage a tire and should never be use on a vehicle you would like to keep the paint on.Brandon

Re: Pressure washer might damage tyres
I've used a Husky 1600psi pressure washer for years on many vehicles, mainly for cleaning the wheels and to blast off road tar. I definitely don't turn the want tip anywhere near the sharp needle point which actually blew a hole through my finger when i decided to see how much pressure was really coming out. I'd say the fan spray setting I use is equal to about 600psi at the very most and i always keep it a good distance from the car.
I've yet to damage paint, wheels, tires, or anything except my own hand.
.... oh yeah.... i was using it to clean the bricks on the patio ground and managed to rip some grout out. I was using a very high pressure setting.2007 Sprint Blue Pearl Effect Audi A4 2.0T

Hitting chuck holes and curbing the tire is harder on it than a sprayer.
That's an interestig article. At the end they imply that using a fan spray is OK as long as you don't get too close to the tire and keep it away from where the wheel meets the rim.
They also said that brown water marks are a sign of decreased durability!
