  • What are the benefits of a RO?

Hi, well I am bout to make the jump and order a RO, a Bosch 400 AE.
I have yet to find pads for it, but am looking at the Edge Pads, has anyone had exp with the Edge Pads?

I would like to know the benefits of using one. I know they are better for defect removal.

Do you use it to buff the polish/wax off as well as put it on? If so with what?
What parts of the car should I stay away from?
Do the Speeds of these differ from the G100?
Do I need a backing plate or is the one on the Bosch ok?
Will I see a marked difference using it compared to hands?

Oh and by the way I have ordered that video mike did

Sorry about all the questions, but I really can't afford it and I want to be absolutely sure I will be better off with one.

Any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Re: What are the benefits of a RO?

Hi Graeme, sorry to hear bout ur water spots problem. Guess u still considering the RO? I guess the Bosch one is quite ok. I've spend on two cheap Ro and end up wasted more money. Lastly I got the Bosch unit & was satified. Should have got it in the first place. I understand more or else what u are going through. By the way my is Bosch GEX270AE. 7500 - 12000 OPM.

For the Edge pads, I'm sorry I don't have any experince with it. I'm using Megs W8006 & W9006. So for ok no problem.

The bosch already have a velcro plate & u don't have to worry about that.
Yes the speed it different from the G-100.

Since u already ordered the How to PC DVD. I guess all the answers u are looking for is in it. Maybe u watch the DVD 1st then only u go get the RO machine. I watch it then I went to ordered the M80 Speed Glaze....Hehe. Take it easy. Take care. TQ.

Hi Bernard, the GEX has been discontinued now so I have to get the Pex 400 ae. At least I don't need a backing plate

Hopefully someone here can answer my other questions.

Re: What are the benefits of a RO?

I think they mostly use the PC/G-100, so not much on the Bosch RO. Don't worry the How to DVD is very good. All ur answers are in there. Even me before I got the DVD, I was doing it wrong. Even the way I wax my car was wrong. Imagine I'm waxing for almost 14 years. All this time wrong waxing way.

As for which part of the car to stay away? I think mostly through our own experince will only teach u that. And I don't have a MF bonnet, so I only apply polish/wax with my machine. I'll use MF with my hand to remove the wax/polish.

I only use speed 1 for waxing. And speed 2-3 for polishing. Since the Bosch RO is higher OPM than PC/G-100.

Any difference with RO and hand. Well yes, I can polish & wax the car for 6.5 hours without getting tired. The results will definately be better that hand. U see the DVD, then u'll understand what I mean.

Be patience. The DVD is on the way. I got mine in 10 days. All ur worries & questions will have answers then. Tq.
