  • Looking for "Pop" results on Silver/Grey

    "Pop" vs. Reflections

So this isn't anything to really start a new thread about but i am really looking for a new process to try out.

I'm not looking for reflections as much, considering it's a silver/greyish color. What I am looking for is a new process that will really "pop" the color out.

It seems ColorX is what I might be searching for. Every time is see a thread with colorx, the speckles and color really pop out at you, but does anyone have any other recommendations??Perhaps a whole new process with a different polish and wax. Here is what I am using now with Hi-Tech pads. (Saving for PC)

    Nxt Wash
    Pro Overspray Claybar
    Clear Coat Body Scrub
    ScratchX
    #9
    Nxt Wax

Also, I have a "cloudy" effect on the paint. It's like a darkish then lightish.I can only really notice it on hood. What could this be caused by and what is best method to repair it?

Thanks for help!!!! If anyone has a new detailing process they want to share that has worked on silver/greyish vehicles, please post. Thanks guys.

I've had great luck using #7 or #81 polishes on a silver caddy. I got great metallic pop and even good reflections too. I also use NXT wax. #9 has some great finishing (polishing) attributes too.

The cloudiness could be oxidation maybe. The oxidation might not be cut with the cleaner product by hand application.

    Good luck.

I have a silverstone 350Z...nice low maintenance color..but doesn't exactly "POP" either...my finish is in pretty good shape..my question is ColorX for heavily oxidized finishes??

i think that picture you post of "pop" is from mike's extreme make-over of that bronco, right? i think in that make-over, he did it by hand, using ColorX and NXT. that would probably be a good combo to try. i personally like NXT on metallics, as shown on my mom's altima (it's blue, not silver/grey)

              close up:

              full car shot:

that was done with a PC, #80 Speed Glaze, followed by NXT.
but i think the ColorX and NXT combo may work.

              good luck!

I had great *POP* effect on my silver '02 4runner. I was amazed! I clayed, polish with DC, and the 2 coates of NXT a day apart.
