  • Washing in the rain ok?

Tried searching the forums, I didn't get a definitive answer....but it seems it would be alright?!?! Any opinions on this one? It's barely a light spritz here in the 'Burgh today..and some @#!*#! left a nice decoration on the drivers side front quater panel of my 6 month old car that has been driving me crazy for a week. Left no note, nothing....just careless and inconsiderate. I wanna hit it w/ some scratch-x and see if it looks any better. I sure hope whoever it was gets theirs someday.

It is my understanding that touch up paint does not work wel?!?! And that a bodyshop won't bother to touch up small blemishes, they would rather just repaint the entire piece. Which leads me to believe I'm the who just has to bend over and take it. Either deal w/ the scratches and scrapes, submit to insurance, or pay a fortune out of pocket to a bodyshop, and hope for the best in terms of their work. AAARRRRGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

wow that ***** heres the deal when you run your finger nail over the area, if you can feel it(your nail in the scratch)then chances are its there till a bodyshop gets it fixed. scratch-x wont hurt it to try. body shops arent that expensive, i know it **** you have to pay, but if you do some of the work for them its even cheaper. you can start by removing the fender and just bring that in, with the vin # cause paint codes are in the vin #. i hope this helps

Isn't that two very different questions

Well, about the washing in the rain. I've done that a couple of time, works just fine, especially if you can drive the car inside a garage or the like afterwards to dry it. Or you can just leave it outside if all you wanna do is wash it, it will get an extra rinse. People might give you an odd look though while you are at it

I see alot of people going outside after it rain's and wiping there car's of with rag's. I guess they don't care if there paint get's scratches and swirl's on it.

I work on my driveway at the moment so I can't control the environment during a detail. Often times it rains. I never had any problems with it. I usually wash the car and then drive it in the garage and spray it (while still wet) with last touch and then dry it with MF's. (I wouldn't use the last touch when you're planning for additional steps though)
