  • Cleaning billet aluminum...

    Morning guys and gals...

I've got some billet aluminum licence plates brackets on the front and rear of my truck. They've been getting spotted up by water over time, and I can never seem to get them clean. I've used a few different metal polishes, and nothing gets those nasty water spots out. Anybody have a good suggestion to getting them clean?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Re: Cleaning billet aluminum...

I havent tried it, but if you want you can try the power ball metal polishing systems from mothers. it's supposed to work pretty cool, but well... I can't give and accurate opinion since I've never used it.

I like Blue-Job Edit: Commercial Link Removed - Mike Phillips

You can also remove it and buff it up with rouge on a buffing wheel.

By the way, once you've got it polished always give it a coat of wax to protect it from the elements.

Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh is great stuff on billet.

I think Mothers now offers a small power ball, if so or if not, check into one of these and try it with our new Mag Aluminum polish. We used a wide mouth container which will make it easy to use with the power ball.

            The mothers powerball works great
but if you want some real shine get a can of eagle one Nevr-dull
the stuff does wonders on my eagle alloys wheels

I tried the NXT polish by hand, and it didn't do a thing to it. Guess I'll pick up one of those small power balls, and see if that works.
