    Hi Kevin,

#3 Machine Glaze is a machine applied pure polish, (non-abrasive), for final machine polishing on primarily automotive finishes and polyester and epoxy molds.

After using this product most people would apply a wax unless the paint was brand new then they would either stop here or hand apply a second polish like M80, M07, M81, M09, etc.

    What are you working on?
How are you doing your work?
What is your car care goal?

Mike, Thanks! I working on a '64 Electra with a rotary polish at 1000 rpms. I'm trying to get the original paint to look as good as possible.

Are the products and techiques I would use be the same if I color sanded the car? Kevin

No, not really. The products you would use after sanding are pretty aggressive and the paint on this 1964 Electra is old, fragile and probably thin.

With a rotary buffer, M80 Speed Glaze with a W-8006 polishing pad should remove a lot of the oxidation and any swirls and scratches that you want to remove safely.

After that you could then DA the car with the same pad and product and then go to wax.

You could get more aggressive than the M80 for the rotary buffer step if needed and you feel secure with the paint that's on the car, how experienced are you with the rotary buffer?

Is it possible to come to our Saturday class this weekend and bring the car?

For everyone that reads this thread and doesn't know what a 1964 Buick Electra looks like, here's a photo of one off of Google Images,

That's about 20 feet of car in one direction, plus a huge hood, roof and deck lid to rotary buff.

How are you're arms and shoulders?

Mike, Thanks for the great info!

I'm fairly experienced with a rotary polisher. I have another question.

The paint on my '64 Electra (great pic you posted!)(I have a black 225 4 door 6 window) has little checks in the paint, do you think wet sanding will take them out?

Where and when is your class on Saturday. I'd be very interested in attending!

                Thanks! Kevin

These cracks are usually referred to as lacquer cracking or lacquer checking and no wet-sanding will not remove them because the are not "on" the paint, they are "throughout" the paint.
