  • Black color combos...?

    Happy New Year 2007.
Hi there all. I need some advice on a Black Mercedes I'm gonna work on this weekend. I have DC1,2,3, ColorX, GC, Nxt, CleanerWax, M20 & M16 in my arsenal. Which wax would u think suits the black color paint the most? My plans are:
    1. GC wash
    2. Clay (if needed)
    3. DC1 (if the paint is good, I'm thinkin to use ColorX enough, no need DC1,2)
    4. DC2
    5. Wax - (I can't make up my mind to use what combo?)

Any suggestions...? Its my uncle's new car. But the car has been in the showroom for 1 month or so. He wanted to wait till 2007 to get it registered. So I think the paint should be cured up well. Haven't seen if there's any swirls yet though. Thank you kindly.

If there are swirls, you might want the ColorX as well, as it should remove them better than DC#1.

#16 seems to be everyones favorite if they can get their hands on it....

Thks Murr1525, appreciate the help. Is #16 ok for 'black' color? Hehe...Nxt keep coming up in my mind for Step5: Wax. Or u think GC + #16 is much better? That's the problem of having too many waxes. Hehe..

Side-by-side on black paint, M26, Gold Class, NXT, M21, Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax, ColorX, A12 Cleaner/Wax, will all create a finish on black paint that is richer in color than M16

There's a handful of people mostly on the other detailing forums which will argue till they're blue in the face that bring out the full richness of the color of paint is a bad thing, they call it darkening, but in reality, what everyone wants is the reddest red, the whitest white, the greenest green and the blackest black, this is called the full richness of color.

M16 is a great wax, we've used as much as anybody in our detailing background but side-by-side on black paint, (the true test of any product is on black paint, even clear coated black paint), most Meguiar's waxes will produce a black that is richer in color.

Thank you kindly Mike Phillips. I have very good gloss on my uncle's black accord with Nxt. I've tried ColorX & M16 on his wife's civic before & was very glossy too. I agreed. Black paint is very hard to please...Hehehe.

Well gorin002 here are some pictures after my polishing & waxing for my uncle's new car. The paint was new and still very glossy & good condition but just a bit of swirls & light scratches here & there. Took me 6.5 hours to finish the exterior. I did manage to make the swirls less noticeable with DC1. As my M80 didn't arrive yet. I ordered from AG just a few days ago.
My uncle detailed the inside of his car himself.
                  I used GC wash, DC1, Nxt, M21. Used a Bosch Gex 270AE DA & B&D Waxer with W8006 & W9006. Since we don't have G-100 over here.

                  Some light scratches.

Haven't seen gorin002 for a few weeks, must have found a new forum?

Besides that, the car looks great Bernard,

                      Just joking Mike.... aren't you?

Besides that, the Merc looks GREAT. I think it will look even better after the #80. Way to go!

Thank you Mike & veedub Mike.

The M80 did arrive but a week later after that. I did try the M80 on my own silver car. Its harder to see if it has turn translucent tho on silver. I guess I'll bug my uncle see if he'll let me use M80 on his car. Hehehe.
