02 Ford Sport Trac

ok, I'm new to this forum and to detailing. So I need some advice. My wifes sport trac is an 02 and needs some attention. She has is washed at the local Mr. Detail, but it needs more. I purchased a cheap-o polisher that says its 300-3000 rpm. I used it on a painted bed cover with some paste wax and it did a great job.
So, now I need to know what's the process of detailing the paint on my wifes truck? I've read of clay bars, glaze, sealers and all that, but I don't understand it. I need a detailed list of what I need to do.
The paint is in good shape. Some scratches from everyday stuff and a few from idiots in the parking lot...lol.. It has some inbedded bugs in the front and the plastic/rubber trim is not so shiny....
