    Thanks Whelan,
I am glad that more and more car fans realize how rare and special the Boss 429's are.
Very few American cars have ever been produced for the sole purpose of qualifing their engines for racing.

How many Boss' did they end up making. I know there is a certain number that was required back then to consider the car a production model so that they could get them into racing. i.e. the Superbird, GT40, etc. were all made to a limited degree so that the car could qualify. But what is the number for the Boss?

Not to mention there were two Boss I believe right? The 429 was the balls to the wall, but I could have sworn they made a little less powerful version as well.

Total production of Boss 429's was 1356
        1969--857
        1970--499
%00 street cars were required before allowed to run Nascar.
All Boss 429's were really detuned Nascar engines.
Actual Nascar cars with Boss 429 engines were the Torino and Cyclone, but these were never built as street cars, only the Boss 429 Mustang's.
Also produced in 1969 and 1970 were the Boss 302's,with a total production run of 8641.
The Boss 302 was successfully run in Trans Am Racing

Thanks for your interest, hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! The 302 was def. what I was thinking of. BTW, nice Marauder you have there, they have a nasty sound to them, love it! Reminds me of the old Impala SS (my neighbor has one)

I have to get some pics on here of my friends car
          167 Camaro SS
          Dark Candy w/ white stripes
          500hp Vette motor
          Vette Z06 braking and suspension.
          433 rear
Hurst 4 speed w/ marble ball.

            Whelan,

The Marauder is definatly fun,but I actually put more miles on the Boss last year. There is nothing like a 600 HP hemi Ford to get your blood pumping, besides, the Boss always draws the biggest crowds at car shows. No matter how many foreign pimped up rides show up American Muscle still has it!
