  • Help with Detailing

I have a 2002 Audi A4 that I just bought. It is dark Pearl Blue. The paint is excellent except for the back passenger side panel. There is a bunch of bumps that somebody told me was oxidation but I don't know if that is true or not. I have bought the clay and the scratch X. Should I use the scratch x first to remove the wax and then use the Clay? Also there is some very fine scratches and water marks. What is the best way to remove these. I have tried to use Scratch X to remove the fine scratches but it seemed to only make a mild difference. Thanks for all you help.

    Re: Help with Detailing

You would want to clay first, then use ScratchX.

Give these a read to get the basic process down..

Then these for ScratchX in particular. Audis tend to have hard paint, which can be hard to work on, but you can still make improvements. Just focus on a 12" by 12" area, and work the ScratchX against the paint with a lot of passion, until it is broken down to a greasy clear color.

      hi lefty,
One panel being "bad" will bring a question that that the paint is different there, perhaps a repaint? The process may be different for different areas. You may have to test at more than one place. Can you take and post pics ?
