  • Mike Phillips, gb387 Question

I Need Help....no no besides that,
I was wondering did anyone ever do a list of polishes from least aggressive to most aggressive?

If so where may I find it?

The number game is so confusing to me.

    TIA

Try that thread... there is lots of good info on there about several meguiars products. The last page talks about meguiars pure polishes. There is alot to read but lots of good info on there!

      Thanks gb387

      Back to square 1
      Seem the options are endless.
So I guess I will re ask my question with more back ground filler.

I have been using #5 as a swirl/spider web remover( I had good results) but Mike pointed out (copied from Autopia)

#5 New Car Glaze is a non-abrasive pure polish formulated to dry in humid climates. Unlike it's cousin #7, #5 New Car Glaze dries quickly and turns white. It contains no ingredients with the intended purpose of abrading paint.

If #5 New Car Glaze is removing swirls in your paint, then chances are high that it is acting as a lubricant while your application material is actually abrading the finish and upon wipe-off, the polishing oils are filling in what remains.

I was asking #5 to do something that it's not made to do nor can it do.

I have NO argument here, Mike knows best.

What I would like to find is a new/different product to take up the work load off that my buffing pad/terry cloth.

I am using a Terry Cloth to apply all products Each product has is own terry cloth that goes on a 6" orbital buffer
      (antique Black & Deck)
(and some how I feel that theres going to be different levels of Terry Cloth) So for sake of conversation we will say that it is Fair to medium in grade.

All product gets removed by hand with a microfiber.

If I were to use #83 do I have to step it down ie. #83, #80, #9 or will #83 do the whole job start to finish?

Ha now there's a new color for the ICONS......rotflmao

foam pads can make a big difference in how a product works, which would give you more control over your work, so I suggest trying to save up and get a pc at some point............but for now, you can go from #83 straight to wax if you have gotten the results your were looking for. I my case (and I belive yours too) I have black, so if I use #83 with my skill level I usaully have to step down to #82 (or #9). I chose to do #81 for more pop but that could be skiped. biggest thing is not being able to judge what your terry cloth is doing. do you really feel that you need to start with #83? maybe starting with #82 would do you fine. most times thats all I need to start with except for a few ris here and there.
hope this helped and didn't put you to sleep.

          Thanks 2000

Never used #82, #83 before so I can only imagine what you mean by"POP"

I went out and bought a new bottle of DEEP CRYSTAL 1 and 2. There may have been a good chance my old ones froze.

After doing the hood I still have a few scratches but not like before. I'm guessing the next step up from here would be #82.

I often fall asleep behind the computer, but not when it deals with me/my truck directly. You have my undivided attention.

          On the foam pad/pc."
I kind'a waiting for "THE BIG ONE" when ever Meguiar's decides to get all there ducks in a row.
