Detailing tape question?

hey when you guys detail at any step of the process do you tape anything off?

and i have a scuff mark on my tail lights is there anyway to get this out? its from my g/f little sister she hit it with a bike? and suggestions?

If I am doing a full detail I tape off the trim, full detail would include cleaner/polish/wax. If I am just applying a quick coat of wax I skip the tape and watch carefully around the trim while I am applying the wax.

I am not sure how bad your scuff is but Meguiars has a product called PlastX to help remove scuffs and scratches on headlights and tail lights.
