  • Next step up for #80

What is the next more agressive product than # 80? I have looked at the charts but i just want to confirm it before i go and do something stupid do my car. Or, do you think it is my technique and that i can get better results with #80 alone with better technique?(It was my first time using it) And finally, do you find that #80 is able to remove all(at a least a majority) of the cobwebs found in your paint?

Thanks for reading that and it is a little confusing and not organized very well.

    #83 would be next up.

Now, if it was you first time, it may be worth giving #80 another chance, making sure to only move your arms slowly, stay in a small area.

So the new scratch-x is more abrasive than #83?

I think #83 is more agressive than the new ScratchX.

ScratchX is a hand product that can be used by PC. #83 is designed for PC use, so I would just go straight to it, if you dont have either on hand.

As you advised, i will watch the dvd again and give #80 another chance. If it doesnt work i will get #83. Now i have a follow up question, when you use #83, do you have to go back over the area again with #80?

            Maybe.

For a show car finish, it would be recommended. #83 could leave a bit of micro marring on some paints, maybe none on others. An average person probably wouldn't notice either way, but thats not why were here is it....

Just to add.. you dont have to do the whole car with #80 again. Dial in your procedure on one trouble area, or trouble panel, then from there.

I am going to guess that you are working on your A4?

Audi's tend to have really really hard paint. I used to have a trunk lid off one of them and I couldn't touch the swirls with a PC. I think i could have taken them out if I was any good with my rotary.

Re: Next step up for #80

Audi's have very hard paint that even #83 with a PC may not really improve upon with out several applications.

I understand your need for detailed, step by step applications, but the truth is there is no such thing. What I like, you may not like, ect...

So does #83 need to be follwed by #80. I here yes around here a lot, but I find #83 to leave an LSP ready surface on most paints I come across. Do a two spots with #83, then use tape to seperate them. Buff one half with #80 as a follower and compare it to the side with #83. See if you notice a difference.

Base coat color as well as paint harderness filtered through your eyes are what will make you happy. If your happy with the #83's finish, then go to the LSP. If you see an improvement with the #80, then go that route. Detailing is trial and error.

For most Audi's I usually need #83 and rotary to correct small defects, though I find that leaves the surface LSP ready in my eyes.

I have heard ScratchX is compared to #82.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.
