A backing plate and some pads to start. I hope it's not too big of a boat.

      What kind of boat?
      How large?
What is the condition of the surface
Are you working on Gel-Coat or Paint - (some boats are painted)

If it's not oxidized, or only lightly oxidized, then pick yourself up about a half dozen foam polishing pads and some Meguiar's M50 Cleaner/Wax and go to town on the boat. By using a cleaner/wax you'll insure the surface is cleaned, polished and waxed and you'll only have to go around the boat one time. If you keep up on the boat/finish, that is you don't let it deteriorate, then you can continue to use the M50 or move up to the Flagship when the M50 runs out. M50 can be purchased in bulk which you should do for a boat this size.
