  • Bad wheels

I just found this forum today after opening my Meguiars detailing kit i got for Christmas, however its raining, so bad day. But i plan on detailing my dads 93 Caprice Classic. We have afterstock rims, chrome, but they have a lot of scratching and pitting. I don't expect to get the pits out but what should I use to get the scratched out. Would you use polish and wax just like on the paint?

This will be my first full detail as well

Chrome, and other metals are not something that you wil really be able ot get scatches out of. You may be able to improve it a bit though with the Nxt Metal Polish.

Only way to get scratches out of aluminum or chrome is to sand them down and refinish them. I am going to be helping one of my friends refinish his polished aluminum rims. There are some pretty deep scratches that Im 100% positive wont disappear but would look alot better than before. Chrome on the other hand is different. If you try to sand it, you will need to get the wheels rechromed again. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, there are professionals that do. Try to find a shop that does wheel repairs in your area and ask them the cost to have your wheels refinished.
