Kids are home from College and I am detailing car #3 of 5, this is going to be a long vacation. Ran into a problem when detailing the wife's car (go figure). Using the DA I applied DC1 to hood and then to roof, when applying to roof it did not look like it was taking well, meaning in certain areas it looked like the product was not drying correctly. Did not really give it a second thought and removed the cleaner. When I started applying DC2 it went on okay over the both areas, but when it came time to remove the polish, it was a bear on the roof. I tried removing it with the DA and by hand and could not get it completely off, I applied a second coat thinking that would help and it made no difference, I tried using DC1 to clean it and it did not help. I pulled out some M80 and tried that and it worked a little better, but I still had areas that would be hazy and would not come off. I took some Dawn (yes I know) and mixed it with water and with a terry towel I cleaned off the area and applied used some clay to clean the area. The clay was leaving a residue over some areas of the roof, so once again I used the Dawn and cleaned the area. I reapplied the polish and this time it came off without a problem. The wax was also not a problem. I forgot to mention that this only was happening on the driver's side of the car. The car is two years old and the paint is in decent shape, I could not see or feel anything unusual about it after washing the car. I know that without pictures it is tough to diagnose a problem like this, but any idea why I had so much trouble removing the polish or maybe it was applying the cleaner. I am not a professional, have a lot to learn, but I have detailed a few cars and have never run across this.

It should never dry correctly, as the product is meant to be wiped off wet. You work it in (hand or PC) then remove right away.
"Did not really give it a second thought and removed the cleaner. When I started applying DC2 it went on okay over the both areas, but when it came time to remove the polish, it was a bear on the roof. "
DC2 should be gently worked into the paint and removed right away. Did you let this one dry (skim) also? It could be that the areas where you allowed DC1 to dry (and not fully remove) had some residual effect with the bonding of the DC2
" I know that without pictures it is tough to diagnose a problem like this, but any idea why I had so much trouble removing the polish or maybe it was applying the cleaner."
My guess is that you where letting both products dry? Also with access to #80 (which is a better cleaner then DC1 and atleast equal to or better polish then DC2) and a DA, why didn't you just use this?Let's make all of the cars shiny!

Re: Ran into a problem
I was actually working small areas so that the product would not dry, when it went on, it looked strange it was like floating beading on top of the roof, it was not going on smooth (DC1).
The reason for not using M80 originally was that the car pain is actually in good shape and I was trying to use up some DC product that I had around.
The strange part of all this is that the problem existed after I re-washed and clayed and it was not after a lot of effort of applying different products and re-washing with Dawn that I could this 1/2 of the vehicle done. I live in the San Diego area and the car was under a tarp so the product could not really dry that quickly, I basically applied a 2 x 2 area and TRIED to remove. Fortunately did not have a problem with the rest of the vehicle. Only two more vehicles to go.Jezroj
