  • A couple of questions before starting...

OK I think Im finally ready!!

I just recently watch the Mike Phillips video on how to remove swirls and get a show car finish.First let me say if you dont have this,GET IT!!Right now!!!This was the best 20.00 I spent(Thanks Nick ).

Ok now to my question or questions.I have everything I need to get started:

    80
    83
    21
    26
    Foam applicators for hand work
White towels and the yellow towels
A couple of each of the pads for the PC

And on Monday Ill have my PC !!!

My sublect vehicle is a 97 Mustang, black. The paint is in really great shape overall.Id give it a 8 out of 10.Of course the big thing is scratches and swirls,a bit of cobwebbing as well. The main question I have is regarding urethane and fiberglass.I have urethane bumpers and an aftermarket fiberglass hood.Is the process the same on these body panels?Im going to have to do the bumpers by hand, but the hood I hope to use the PC.If I need to do something else can someone steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks and
    Happy Holidays!!!!!

    No difference.

You may notice the aftermarket hood may have softer/harder paint then the rest of the car and it may be easier/harder to correct the defects. Other then that do your work.

Also, you use the PC on the bumpers, even if its a tight fit and the pad stops spinning, the ocilating action alone is more power then your hands.
Let's make all of the cars shiny!

Bumpers are a good reason NOT to use the screw on handle that comes with the PC. It's easier to move around bumpers, mirrors, etc. without the handle gouging or scratching the paint.

I have a 2004 Mach1 and the factory flexible bumpers are no problem. Aftermarket parts mean aftermarket paint, so you may want to evaluate the partts with aftermarket paint seperately. The paint on your hood may require #83 to remove defects while #80 may be fine on the rest of your car (or, the other way around).

If the entire car was repainted, then you'll have the same paint on everything and the PC won't care what's below the surface.

Do yourself a favor and watch Mike's video one more time before you start.
