  • Removing bird **** stains

I have a black 99 Altima that had some bird **** on it. I just washed it by hand outside, and even with a lot of elbow grease, I can't get all traces of it off.

Can anyone recommend which products to use? I'm assuming I need a light polishing compound followed up by a polish. I'd like to do this by hand. Any advice will be appreciated.

      Hi xray,

Click on the link below and read this how-to article, it describes how to remove a bird drooping etching, or any below the surface defects.

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

Remember, the way you remove a defect that is below the surface, or in the paint is you have to remove paint surrounding the defect, in essence leveling the finish. In most cases, clear coats are pretty hard so you can't just wipe ScratchX on and expect the product to do the work, that's where you come in. You'll need to apply some pressure to the applicator pad and in most cases apply 2-4 applications to see a visual difference.

This has to do with modern clear coat paints, not the effectiveness of our products or even the skill level of the user.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. After using the Scratch-X, should I use another product to give the car an overall polished appearance?

                Re: Removing bird **** stains

Yes, ScratchX is a paint cleaner, it doesn't leave the finish protected and actually removes any previously applied wax.

After ScratchX apply your choice of a quality wax.

I've also had very good results with Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner. It is no longer manufactured but may be available at some outlets. MPPC has worked, even by hand, for me even when other products failed.
