Pressure Washer vs. NXT

I am wondering when we use the pressure washers for car washing, will they wash off the NXT or any kind of waxes?

Hey,

That is a good question. I have used my own personal pressure washer many times on my vehicles without a problem. But then again, I am very gentle with the washer. I will look into it.

If you are talking the coin operated car wash with the wand. You are better off leaving your car dirty. It seems every time I use the do it your self washes it makes my finish look so so, with a noticeably duller look.

Do you mean just the act of using the pressure spray wand at the DIY wash bays or using their soap as well?

I would think there would be no problem using a DIY pressure spray wand if just using water for pre-wash and rinsing and using your own soap for washing.

I don't want to think about winter just yet , but this is what I was planning to do this winter for when I have a lot of winter crud on the car. Otherwise, I thought I'd give QEW a shot for washing when the car's not real dirty.

I bought a 1600 psi pressure washer to clean my house and cars. I use only water for cleaning (removing the dirt) and clean the car with car wash shampoo by hands and finally, clean off the bubbles again with the pressure washer. (Note: usually, about 2 feet away from the car).

By the way, using the pressure washer reduce the time removing some of the brake dust on the wheels.

Question again, will the water high pressure be able removed most of the wax on the paint?

I think it would depend on what detergent they use. Some of the wash places in my area advertise the fact there wash is a gentle soap. Its the spray wax they have i would NEVER use. Never had a problem with just the rinse.

Should I conclude that there will be no harm using the pressure washer unless we point the washer (at high pressure) to the surface for a long period of time, not only it will wash off the wax, even rib off the paint?

You might have to conduct a test. It probably would be a good thing to aim the washer in one area for too long.

No way, I don't want to try on my cars. However, I believe, aiming one area for a long period of time, say more than 15 seconds, it is no good for the paint.

Ah, I see. However, it is difficult for me to find a paint material and try.

Anyway, I should be careful when using the pressure washer. From what I know, using too much strong pressure at one spot will rip off the paint with no doubt. I don't want to pay for the paint damage on my cars. However, one of the advantage of using the pressure washer is water saving.

I don't think I can get a paint metal piece easy in canada.

However, as I know, using high pressure pointing at one spot will rip off the paint easily.
