  • NXT Spray Wax question

I have a question about the NXT spray wax. I always thought it was a "Booster wax" that enhanced your current wax. but from the way the description is worded on the site, it sounds like it is a full pure wax like the Gold Class that I have. Is this true or am I right about it being a "booster?"

I only ask because it's been a while since I waxed the Stang, and since I own the spray wax too, I thought I'd use it later.

On this same note, I use the car only for pleasure and it has very low mileage after a year and a quarter. I take great pride it keeping the car looking as good as I can make it and intend to try out Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish in the spring. Anyway, my question being I only use it for pleasure, but want to keep that "showcar perfect paint finish" as BArry Meguiar would say, how often should I wax the car?

    Re: NXT Spray Wax question

    Its a booster.

You certainly wont need to wax as often as people with daily drivers, but it is hard to give an exact amount of time. Once you get it all done up in the spring, you will be able to see/feel the paint, and kind of keep that as a starting point. When it kind of drifts away from that, not as slick/shiny, redo it.

Or go the other extreme and wax every week. Either way...

Ok. Well being it is a booster I may try to do it soon. It's been about 4-5 months since I gave it the full gold class wax.

      Also,

What is the best way to clean microfiber cloths and the applicator pads?

I know you wash the microfibers in a washer, but do they shrink in the dryer? And what's the best way to clean the applicator pads?

      Thanks for the response Murr1525!

        Re: NXT Spray Wax question

Like Murr1525 stated, our spray waxes are booster waxes, or more technically explained would be maintenance waxes. Like a quick detailer can be used to restore that just detailed look to a car in-between regular washings, our spray-on waxes can be used to restore that just waxed look in-between normal applications of wax.

If your car needs a coat of wax, the best option will be to apply a regular coat of wax. After this application of wax, the spray-on wax works best to maintain the appearance results created by the application of a regular coat of wax.

The most important thing about using spray-on waxes is to use the correct technique to apply them. There are two how to articles on this forum that go over these techniques.

As to your other question about how often to wax?

Nothing looks better than a freshly waxed or detailed car.

After applying a wax and then making your final wipe to remove it, then standing back and admiring the results, the look your car has at this point is pretty hard to beat. If you've done a good job and used quality products the finish will be at its maximum potential.

As time goes by, this level of perfection will tend to diminish, not get better and better, (does that make sense?), if you always garage your car then it theoretically shouldn't diminish to any real noticeable level.

        That said,

Nothing looks better than a freshly waxed or detailed car.

Using Meguiar's waxes, you can wax your car's paint as often as you like, if you always want your car to look like it was just waxed then just wax it.

Wash microfibers in hot water with a quality detergent. Dry normal in a dryer. we don't notice shrinkage or any negative results by following this practice and we go through a lot of microfibers day-in, day-out here at Meguiar's.

If you want, you could air dry your microfibers, but it's pretty hard to beat the convenience of simply throwing your clean, but wet microfibers into a nearby dryer versus what? Stringing up a cloths line, getting out the clips to secure your microfibers to the clothes line and then hanging each one up to dry? You could do this if you want, bigger picture is,
          • Use microfibers
          • Wash microfibers
          • Dry microfibers
          • Fold and store microfibers for use in the future
          • Move on with life
The cloths line is an option however.

            Re: NXT Spray Wax question

Thanks for the advice Mike!!!!!! How about those little applicator pads? I have a bunch, but are filthy and caked with wax.

Also, I just used the spray wax on my car. WOW!!!!!!! What an amazing product. I figured rather than do a full wax right now, I'd just use the spray. Mainly because in the spring, I intend to try and tackle the only problem with my finish....scratches! They are EVEREYWHERE (car is black). I'm thinking of useing the scratchX I bought, Then Deep Crystal polish, then my gold class wax. Sound good? Am I missing anything? Like I said, I take great pride in the appearance of my car. Like you said "Nothing looks better than a fresh detailed car."
Are there any real in-depth article on removing scratches by hand with scratchX? Every one I've found is very general.

Also, any articles on the best techniques to polish and wax?

Thank You for your assistance guys!!!!

I soak mine in a bucket of hot water with a little dish washing detergent, then I throw them into the washer and wash them in hot water and rinse twice.

Yes... actualy I do a bit of what Graeme does as well... Tend to soak them in Dawn (dishsoap) overnight if needed, then handwash with more dishsoap the next day.

Would someone be so kind as to post a link to these articles? I have recently gotten some spray wax but have not yet used it. I would like to do a regular wax more often being down here in Miami, but my husband thinks it's a total hassle and won't help me as often as I want. And it's too big of a job to do by myself. So I am relegated to try spray wax as often as I can and hope hubby gets on the band wagon pretty darn soon.

I don't wash them by hand, I soak them in a bucket of hot water and dish washing detergent. Then I put them into the washing machine, using hot water and 2 final rinses.

As for drying them, you can do as others here do and put them into a dryer. I prefer to hang them out in the shade to air dry, the temps here are 30 c - 35 c so it doesn't take long for them to dry.
