I believe I have seen Mike say that with a PC on most cars, you wont see much of a difference.

          Diferrence between #9,#82,#80

In a nutshell, #9 and #82 are different formulas but offer about the same amount of cleaning action with the edge going to #82.

          Here's the bigger question?

What are you working on that you need to decide between these two products?

            As explained to me...

#9 was orginally forumalated to work on single stage paints and thus uses larger, sharper abrasives that break down quickly (for rotary and single stage paint use)

where as #82 features less agressive abrasives that break down slower (giving the same cut total as #9). This was forumalted for PC and modern clearcoats...

I have found the opposite to be true, as lately I enjoy #82 via rotary and recently have been grabbing #9 for PC work.

You've head some really wrong information.

#9 was introduced in 1987 as a solution the swirl problem guys in the body shops were running into when they switched over to clear coat paints. Primary use was with a rotary buffer. The 80's series is a line borrowing from our OEM experience adapted for body shop use.

Most all of this work is done with rotary buffers.

well to tell u the truth I just wanted to know what the difference between the 2 were, like if one was engineered toward deeper swirl removal (#9) or one was engineered towards an all around cleaner (#82)

oh and thanks for the sites, I tryed searching but no use on the subject at hand

I don't know if i am different but i like #82 on PC better than #9. I havn't compaired them side by side, but #82 seems more effective and finishes clearer. Although some say that #9 has the polishing oils of #7.

It's actually real simple, they're both light cleaner/polishes, they are very non-aggressive or gently, however you like to think of their action on the surface. Best results for actually removing swirls are when they are applied with a rotary buffer because they are so gentle that it takes the rotating action of the rotary buffer in conjunction with either product to actually remove any paint, which you know of course is how you remove defects.

For most people, they wouldn't notice a major difference to use one over the other after wiping off the residue and inspecting the results no matter how you applied them.
