  • Care for panel with damaged paint

My car (1989 911) has a rear quarter panel that I understand was repainted a long time ago. I was told "they" must have used a cheap "clear" during the repainting and it's 'worn off.'

The panel is almost flat. Almost no shine. The (red) panel looks very faded red, with faint white splotchy areas. It's not a pretty sight because the rest of the car is holding up well for it's age.

What products can I use to bring this panel back to life?

(BTW, I tried wax alone on a tiny section of this panel and while the wax gave it a shine it was clear wax alone won't complete this task. (still somewhat faded red paint with some of the white stuff still there - all under wax, making it shiny, but still ugly))

Is "LA" stand for Los Angeles? Or Louisiana?

If Los Angeles, bring it to Meguiar's this Thursday night... if it can be saved, we will help you to save it, if we cannot save it, nothing but a new paint job will.

    Pre-Holiday Fun Class!

We're going to hold an open class on Thursday, December 14th starting at 5:00pm and going to around 9:00pm We have a member driving down from the Oxnard are to learn how to use our Solo 1 System to wet-sand, cut and polish a car he's painting, so while we're in the garage we thought we'd go ahead and open the doors to others that want to work on their car or just come hang out.

Surf City, dude. Huntington Beach. I didn't realize your company was like 10 minutes away.

I can't make Thursday, but when you guys do the Wed night things again in the spring, that's definately something I'd like to drop by and have a look at.

So, would a reasonable (by hand) approach be to use one of your polishes first then hit it with a glaze, like maybe 83 then 7, and then some sort of sealer I guess? Or maybe just #80 Speed Glaze (instead of 83 & 7).
