  • Paint Oxidation

I just purchased a 93 525i. The exterior of the vehicle was not taken care of. Oxidation is what I have . The fine scratches and semi faded paint. How do I restore this diamond in the rough?

      Re: Paint Oxidation

do you have any pics of the car? and by the way, is it a single stage paint or does it have a clear coat?

if it has a clear, then if it has light oxidation, use DC1 or sratchX. if it's medium, step to speed glaze or M83 , if it's way stubborn (PC is recommended for working these products). If that doesnt make it, use M84 with a W7000 foam pad and a rotary.

then, if you used DC1 or scratchX, step to DC2, or #7(showcar glaze). if you used M83, step to M80, and if you used a rotary, step down to M83 with a W8000 foam pad and a rotary, then to M80 and a PC.

top it with whatever wax you like (NXT, M21, 3M paste wax, etc)

      hope this helps.

Try Meguiars Colorx & work it in to the almost dry stage, then stop & let it dry. When dry wipe it off & evaluate your results. Report back w/your findings & anyone here will be glad to assist you further.

As Chex said, it does depend on if you are working by hand or machine. Here are some links for both...
