I'd think the best idea would be not to. This spring when I do my entire truck I think I'm going to tape them off. The silver stripe on the sides of my truck are vinyl. That's going to be a pain to tape. I would at least tape the edges. I'd like to hear more on this subject as well.
I waxed and polished over the decal's on the car I use to have. And the car I have now I applied wax over the decal to. So when I put the new decal on I plan on waxing over it. Because I wax told that you should but wax over the decal after applying it. Now polish I 'm not to sure about. Would it ruin the decal if it was applied over it?
I do commercial units & government units w/all types of decals ie: vinyl, reflective & nonreflective; imitation gold & silverleaf too. I try to look for any area where it may be starting to lift off & do that area by hand, otherwise I polish & wax them like paint but move over them a little faster because the product(polish/wax) can get caught along the edges which requires more time to remove. Easy does it & you'll be fine. Good Luck!
Nice lookin' truck Bluezero. How long did you spend on it?
About 15 mins.
I had done a full detail about two weeks prior to the photo. That photo was after a wash and a go over with Last Touch. I love that stuff, works great for keeping that just waxed look.
