to remove overspray. it was recommended to me by someone that works at a body shop but I was pretty skeptical. Seems like it would have a negative effect on the clearcoat.

What do you mean by paint thinner? Do you mean mineral spirits or lacquer thinner? Mineral spirits will not remove overspray. Lacquer thinner may remove overspray, but you are taking a chance. It could hurt the good paint. It all depends on how brave you are. I dont think I would take that chance,Just use clay.
