How often should we perform a full polish/detailing ?

Everybody is talking about how to polishing/detailing car finishes with PC , rotary and products they uses but, does anyone know that how long can a clear coat last for frequen polish (say once every 3 months) before the clear become thinner and thinner and finally expose the paint ? How often should we perform a full detailing for a 7/24 car ?

Well, depends what you are doing, what products/tools and how skilled.

With a rotary and no skill, you have about 30 seconds.

With a PC/hand, and #80/#9, etc, you can detail monthly for years. And you shouldnt even need that often.

If you can master the proper washing/maintenance techniques, it is enough to polish once/twice a year.

I do a full swirl removal about once a year, and in between, I try to maintain my finish by adding protection fairly often. I don't think its possible to keep your finish 100% free of defects, but if you keep the protection up, you should be able to minimize the damage significantly. Of course, having a carport/garage saves you quite a bit of headache....
