  • Sheepskin Mitt

So, after reading a few strong supportive posts for sheepskin mitts, and watching Mikes How-To video, I went and did a little shopping. Never used or really looked for one before.

So, at Pep Boys, along with a Body Brush for snow removal, and some touch-up paint to deal with mistakes of others, I found a sheepskin mitt. Never heard of the company though, it is a company named Detail Gear. It has a leather interior, so I assume it is real. Do companies matter for these sort of things, or anybody use one from this company?

    Thanks a lot.

And is there a difference between a sheepskin mitt and a lambswool mitt?

      Re: Sheepskin Mitt

if you can find a walmart near you (i know some hate shopping there), they have the eurow sheepskin mitts for around $5 and they're pretty nice. just make sure to feel for the plushest, thickest, softest one(s) you can find, kinda like fruit...

btw... i've seen some of those sheepskin/lambwools mitts at pepboys (turtle wax, offbrands, etc..) and they seem very thin/flimsy and i wouldn't use them personally, but then again i'm real picky compared to most. if it feels okay to you, then use it...

Hmmm... Ya, I'd think sheep skin was sheep skin too. The manufacture doesn't make the sheep, they just sew it into a mitt. Right? Maybe there are different grades of sheep? I've read good things about the ultra plush, Big Lots has them pretty cheap. Next time I get by there, I'm going to pick up a few to try.

            Re: Sheepskin Mitt

I'd imagine Sheepskin and Lambswool would be the same.

Believe it or not, I got my lambswool mitt from (gasp) a Walgreens drug store. Its been wonderful between me and my lambswool mitt. Now, the cuff around the area where I insert my hand is rough; rough enough to scratch paint. So I turned the cuff inside the mitt so that it never touches my car.

Edge 2000 just released their ShMitt which is just phenomal.

Here is a user review w/ pics:
Any idea how to clean these withought having the threads dissolve? Mind you mine have some mildew on them from being rain soaked. The interior of my car is now completely gutted and the seat belts are unbolted. I was going to stretch them out and power wash them to get the dirt out of them...

They work so well and stand up to so much abuse that there really isnt any other mit that can compare.
