  • Orbital Buffers?

What's the difference between an orbital buffer, rotary buffer, and dual-action polisher?

I can get a 10" random-orbit buffer at Advance Auto Parts for about $30 to $40 or a 6" one for about $20 (each come with a foam polishing pad and a synthetic wool pad), but I do not know if I can use the ColorX and the Deep Crystal system with an orbital buffer.

Here is a thread that should answer your question: Rotary vs PC vs Regular Orbital Buffer

The orbital buffers are best used to apply a wax, it will be faster than by hand and give you a nice thin even coat... Now their ability to remove oxidation, swirls and scratches will be very limited, they do not have the power a PC does or the ability to control the speed and often you are limited on their pad/bonnet selection. I have used a couple different Orbitals and have found they do not compare to a PC.

If a Orbital is what you want to give a try first, go for it you may not get the results a PC will give you but it will definitely aid in your detailing process.
