  • NXT Booster wipe-down method

I've gotten hooked on the NXT booster wax, because I just don't have enough time in the evening to apply a full coat of NXT tech wax. When I first started using the booster, I was misting in on the post-washed, dried surface of the car, smearing it around with a MF cloth, then wiping the haze off with a new MF.

I have since found that the booster is meant to be misted on the wet surface, so I've started using it that way. However, if I try to wipe it down with a MF, the MF gets soaked and becomes useless. So, I've started wiping it down with my synthetic chamois. It seems to work a LOT better, and it doesn't seem to hurt the chamois a bit. Sometimes I will need to buff out a few spots with a MF, but that's to be expected.

Anyway, on to my question. Am I reducing the effectiveness of the booster was by wiping it down with the chamois? I've noticed a significant amount of booster wax when wringing out the chamois. I hope I'm not just wiping the wax off completely. The surface of the car feels pretty slick when I'm done, so I think I'm ok, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

    Hi cydewaze,

I have never heard of anyone using it like that? But... if it's working for you that's great. You can use the Tech Spray Wax on a wet car, but if you do, you will be leaving behind less product when your remove it.

The back of the bottle says to spray it on the wet surface, no? Maybe I was using it correctly at first.

        ~One man’s opinion / observations ~

NXT Spray Wax- using a clean, soft foam wax applicator, it applies just like a wax (applying it with a towel will waste a lot of product because as your spreading it, you're also absorbing it into your towel) First spray some onto your wax applicator to moisten it, then mist some onto the paint and spread out with the applicator. Apply to the entire car, let it haze, and then remove with a Microfiber cloth

        I haven’t used it on a wet surface though…

        ~Hope this helps~

Really?...I've always used it on my dry, just washed car and been very happy with it...

            Hi cydewaze,

I prefer to use it like TOGWT wrote.

(In fact, I have written something very similar to that multiple times on a number of forums to help people understand how to apply it. I learned to write about how to use it after first using it multiple times trying to dial in the application directions.)

You can use it on either a wet car or a dry car, it's your choice and personal preference. I don't like using it on a wet car, that's my preference. I really like using it on a dry car after washing or first using a quick detailer.

In fact it's my favorite product for maintaining the black Pilot.

Ok, I guess I was thrown off by this thread, where someone stated that it was supposed to be used wet.

I liked applying it dry better anyway, and I like TOGWT's method of spraying it on the applicator instead of the surface, because that will prevent the overspray on the windows that I've been getting. NXT is tough to get off of glass.

              Thanks everyone!

The Back of my bottle says

Directions: SHAKE WELL. mist Meguiar's spray wax directly onto cool ,"washed" surface (spray should be 8-12 inches from the surface)

This could be taken 2 ways some of us "here" know to dry the surface before detailing but it does not say any different on the bottle.

spread evenly over a portion of the car using a clean, soft 100% cotton, terry cloth towel or ultimate wipe microfiber.

I do the same thing that most of you seem to be doing: washing and drying the car, moistening an applicator with the spray wax, spraying it on the car being careful not to get the windows(you should have enough to spread it up near the windows), allow it to haze and take it off with a MF.

I too was VERY dissapointed with the booster.
Not the shine, it is awesome!
                    The application drove me nuts.
Here is what works for me:

Spray generous amount on plush 1/4 folded MF.

Wipe in looooooooooong back and forth strokes, barely overlapping. Very fast coverage. Much faster then NXT. (If you wipe in circles it buffs itself out too fast.)

                    Use seperate MF buff dry!
                    EASY!

I've noticed several mentions of the booster wax being hard to get off of glass... What's up with that? Is is that you get overspray there but don't get it off until it's hazed?

I would think you could apply it to glass just like to paint for some extra beading action off the glass. Does it not work well like this? I guess I'm gonna have to do some experimenting with this stuff (I'm curious to try it wet too). It'll have to be on the 200SX, which has Zaino Z2 over NXT on everything including the glass. I'm messing around with EO WAUD over #16 on the Regal, and of course the Aurora is nobody's test bed...

I haven't found ANY spray wax, aerosol or trigger, that I like.

I don't like Quik Wax, Speed Bead, Bead Max, S100 Spray, nor NXT Booster. I can wax the car with wax just as fast as I can spray wax it.

Try some EO Wax-As-U-Dry. It really works while you dry the car, no later buffing needed. And it seems to make drying easier. Plus it's like $4...
