  • scratch-x vs #83

Which one is more durable and makes those swirls really go to heck? Can scratch-x be used with a pc and it best to use an orange cutting pad with both products for best results?

    thanks

    Re: scratch-x vs #83

I don't know what you mean by durability because neither of them are waxes.
I am not sure if #83 contains the body shop safe protection though??
Both the new ScratchX and #83 can be safely used on the PC on a W8006 pad (polishing not light cutting). I am pretty sure #83 is more aggresive than ScratchX. So if the swirls are really bad then go with #83 but ScratchX is still a good place to start.

      Re: scratch-x vs #83

ScratchX is a tick less aggressive than M83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish. Both M83 and the newly refomulated ScratchX can be used on a PC with our "yellow" polishing pads for best results when removing swirls

As far as other pads go...not too sure about the orange pad your referring to, there are several different factors that go into a pad, and there are several "orange" pads on the market that are different

Our products are designed to be used with our pads, but you'll have to experiment on your own if you plan on using other pads.

        Re: scratch-x vs #83

There is a new formula ScratchX that will work via PC and is less aggressive than #83. Meguiars says ScratchX is closest to #82 Swirl Free Polish(NEW ScratchX!). With that in mind you want to use the least aggressive product for the job, you might try ScratchX in a test spot if the results are less than you expect move up to #83.

As for the pads Meguiars doesn't recommend using a cutting pad with the PC. I would use their Meguiar's W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad for the best results.

Now keep in mind both ScratchX and #83 are cleaner polishes so... once you are done with ScratchX/#83 apply your favorite wax to protect the finish.

if the new scratch X will this affect the results. perhaps a dumb question.

but with the old stuff you really had to put some passion into your work to see results and was never a DA product.

but now it is? that's all i'm asking.

any previous threads i should read on this to get more informed that i missed would be awesome.

You'll still have to apply plenty of passion to get results with ScratchX, new or old.

Now, the new is going to be a tad more runny... which could make it a bit tougher to use by and as it could keep spreading on the work area, not sticking and working down in. Just a thought though, not sure, havent opened my new tube yet.

THe new ScratchX formula is a thinner product, it is not any more aggressive.

hi you can use the light cutting pad from ccs with scratch x but after using that pad go to white poling pad to get better results it works best that way . when i first used scratch x i only tried it with white polishing pad it was not getting swirls out so i tried my ccs light cutting pad orange and it did the trick . after using the scracth x i used nxt paste wax it came out like a mirror . . my car is a dodge magnum r/t the color is cool vanilla / white .my car shine better then most black cars i see and white cars are hard to get that shiney lol. you might say white is boring but when its done the right it looks as good as black if not better .
