  • Rinse after clay or just wipe off ?

Hi, I heard so many people talking about claying their car. So, i got my clay finally. Before I get started, I got few questions here.
1)Use clay after washing, right ?
    2) Need to rinse after claying or just wipe it dry then follow by next step ?
I wanna start it right as a beginner. Need advise. Thanks

Heya guys, not to hi-jack but...
I notice sometimes when I'm claying, I get a smear streak from the clay bar. Basically the clay sticking to the finish & I have to rub it off afterwards. Is this because I need to use more lubricant? I thought it was pretty well lubricated but maybe I went off the wet areas or something. Was kind of a PIA to remove.

Back to the question, I usually run my soapy mitt over the area after claying then rinse with water.

        Cheers
        Sean

If your clay is sticking to the surface, you need more lubrication or Quick Detailer. Spray on the paint surface you're working on, and give a quick spray to the clay as well.
Work only on the areas you applied QD onto

Well it does happen sometimes. I just clay it over again till it's gone. No need to rub it. Some clay smear that I miss can easily be wax off while I'm waxing the car too. Thks.

Re: Rinse after clay or just wipe off ?

This morning I clayed after I rinse off the shampoo while the car is still wet, I dont use any QD, the clay is so easy to rub and so smooth, does not stick to paint surface at all.. after rubbing on few surfaces, i can see dirt on the clay..
clay really perform deep cleansing...yammy Why I ask can I keep clay in water is bcos I saw one of the car detailer shop here throws all their clays in water after using it..maybe water is the best to keep in moist..

well keeping the clay moist is just personal preference. but for me, i'll keep it moist with QD. who will you listen to, the one who made the clay or the one who uses the clay?
