    Hi guys,
Just wondering if i could omit claying if i intend to apply scratchX on the same surface area. Thanks in advance.

Well, you dont have to, but they do different steps.

The foam pad can actualy jump over contaminants, rather than grabbing and removing them, so they will just be left behind.

As Murr pointed out, they are intended to remove different types of contaminates.

Clay will remove above surface contaminates.... to determine if clay is needed, wash and dry your vehicle then run your hand over the surface of the paint(mainly the hood, roof and trunk) if it feels rough to the touch clay is needed to remove the contaminates.

ScratchX will remove below surface contaminates, things like fine scratches, swirls, etches and so on.

You have to evaluate the surface you are working on and determine what the best product selection might be.
