Will the Meguiar's backing plate work on a regular PC ?

can the meguiars backing plate be attached to the PC 7424 to use megs 6.5" pads? is this the same with the PC mike has been using for years? here's the link:

yes, both the porter cable 7424/7336 can use the megs (w64da) backing plate...

There is no physical difference between the Dual Action Polisher Meguiar's sells called the G-100 and either the Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher model number 7427 or 7336 except the 7336 has a different counterweight. Just to note, the counterweight difference makes no difference when polishing paint.

Thus any backing plate that fits the Meguiar's unit will fit any of the Porter Cable units and visa-versa. Porter Cable is the manufacture of our G100, the difference between the Meguiar's unit and every other PC sold on any other detailing website is that ours comes with our name on it and a lifetime warranty.

All this confusion for all these years over a name.

No such thing as a stupid question!

Over the years there's been a lot of confusion over the words/terms G100 and PC, so it's only normal to have questions and or wonder if these are different tools or the same thing. Back in the early 1990's when Meguiar's introduced the Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher to the detailing world, (long before any of these other companies jumped on the bandwagon), it was sold with the Porter Cable label on the body of the polisher, I have some of the early Brilliant Solution catalogs that show this in the pictures), but somewhere along the line we added our name to the side and we've always backed our polisher with our own warranty.
