I tried Mothers detailing phases #1 Paint cleaner/#2 Sealer+Glaze/#3 Carnuba wax.Does Meguiars have in the Mirror Glaze line products like these? Why the sealer/glaze then the wax?I thought the sealer was the wax? Thanks Joe
I believe the equivalent in the Meguiar's line would be the Deep Crystal System which is comprised of Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner (aka DC1), Deep Crystal System Polish (aka DC2) and Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax (aka DC3). DC2 is what Meguiar's calls a "pure polish" meaning it has no abrasives or cleaning ability and is intended only to enhance gloss and beauty. It needs to be "locked down" so to speak with a wax or sealant.
I'm not all that familiar with the Mother's line, but a quick look at their website shows #2 Sealer+Glaze to be similar in concept to DC2. Why the word "Sealer" here? Terminology in the car care world is not always 100% consistant from brand to brand - glaze, sealant, wax, polish - can mean slightly different things depending on who you talk to. I'd like to see a side by side comparison of these two "systems" and, since you already have the Mother's products I nominate you to do the test for us!

yup, DC is the equivalent. maybe in the time these existed, the professional ones were the medallion premium paint cleaner and medallion paint protection.
BTW, as far as I know, if step#2 from mothers is a paint sealer and glaze, It could be considered as a non pure polish since it involves other things like polymers and wax.
that could do a trick in giving you more shine. I like more pure polishes. but still, if the results you get please you, go on with that system and master it.
I'm not devoted to a single brand, but I'm devoted to find the best brands and use them always.
hope this helps.

Sometimes consistency in brand-to-brand terminology is downright entertaining.
Here’s the label on an older bottle of #7 (which is a pure polish like DC step2 and apparently Mothers Sealer and Glaze) that references #7’s earlier name.
When Meguiar's introduced M07 sometime in the 1930's or 1940's it was called Sealer & Reseal Glaze and the term meant to seal and hide fine swirls and scratches and with subsequent applications, (in the future), reseal, or re fill and hide fine swirls and scratches.
One time I heard that Mother's marketing plan was to watch what Meguiar's does and then copy it.

I've used Mothers products for years and used to swear by them like some naive kid in a cult. Since I've been using Meguires I wouldn't use Mothers on my Mother in law's car Meguires is the Jesus of car care products
well I used to have some Mothers, but I used it all up on my parents adn friends cars so that there vehicles wouldnt look any better than mine when I would clean my truck, and I think they could tell the difference....so that ended pretty quick when they found out I was using Megs instead of Mothers on my truck....lol, and that year I got so much cleaner wax I was speechless... and yet I still got one thing of paste wax left and 2 liquid bottles that have yet to be opened or shook up
