Re: Help Required With Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

The trick is to NOT let it dry before you remove it. Try re-applying the paint cleaner over the dry product. This should soften it and then remove the fresh application immediately.

The ONLY products that need to dry are waxes. Everything else you work the product in to the paint untill it breaks down then you remove.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

THe only paint care products that ever need to dry are waxes...

Everything else is a apply, work-in and the wipe off type products.

We wrote an article about this and it's in guess where?

Also, sometimes it helps to re-apply the product you're working with and use this second application to re-liquify the previous application and then wipe both off together.

Re: Help Required With Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

Here you go.. in its entirety,

Which products need to dry before removing?

When it comes to paint care, often times we'll have members post to our forum, which products and procedures they're using to detail their car. In the process they'll mention how long they let products like ScratchX, or Deep Crystal Polish, or #7 Show Car Glaze, or M80 Speed Glaze dry before they removed it.

A common question that comes up often on our forum and over at our Customer Care Hotline is,
            • "How long should I let a paint cleaner dry?"

              or

"How long should I let a polish dry?"
This is a common mistake and/or misconception about these non-wax products, or in other words product meant to leave protection behind on the finish after removal. With this article, we hope to shed some light on this topic and clear up any confusion there may be on which products need to dry before removing them from the paint.

When working inside the Meguiar's line of product, whether that's our Consumer Line, our Professional Line, or even our Mold Release Line, the only products that need to dry, and the only products you should allow to dry are our waxes.

All other products are formulated and meant to be applied, worked-in and then removed immediately afterwards. This would include,
            • Compounds
            • Paint Cleaners
            • Cleaner/Polishes
            • Pure Polishes

All Meguiar's waxes should be applied, worked-in and then allowed to dry until they pass the Swipe Test.

This would include all Meguiar's paste waxes, liquid waxes and even our spray-on waxes.

            We hope this helps...

Thank you all For Your help, the direction on the back of the bottle should be adjusted to resemble rub in and wipe off.

Does Australia (or any other countries than U.S.) have different packaging than the bottles sold here? Because the directions on my bottle say "Remove immediately......Do not let product dry". Just wondering....

It's the same lable, only printed upside down for the southern Hemisphere.

                    Re: Different bottles

They must have a slightly different bottle i have the paint cleaner/wet look/cuban wax - these bottles have identical information on the back except for the names. the only difference is in the next tech wax and gold wax. and put on and wipe off

                      Ha....cute.

Despite your answer, it was a serious question. I've read so many posts in recent months of people doing the DC #1 incorrectly lately that it made me wonder "WHY"? I mean......it has to be one of the following:

                      1. The labels/instructions are printed differently for all countries.
                      2. Users are not understanding the directions they read.
                      3. Users are not bothering to read the directions at all.

I'm trying to give people the benefit of the doubt here by questioning the labels....

Yes - in Bangkok they tend to put another sticker over the original sticker from Meguiars which is printed in Thai Language. There can be many translation problems when they do this. However, I just remove that sticker and read the English since I cannot read Thai anyway! But this could be a reason why other countries have this problem. Just a guess...
