It says its for tires but damn it works great on black plastic!!It makes it look new and protects it from fading!! I use it on all of the non polished black plastic pieces on my car including, the black back strip on the hatch/trunk door, all black plastic body pieces on the front and back and even my antenna base!! Seriously try it, it will not dissappoint. I only need to reapply it every 3-4 months cause it protects and shines that good!!! Just use a micro fiber towel or small "soft" sponge to apply it. It will leave a little grease mark on the paint around the plastic but just wipe that up with the clean side of the cloth and you're good to go!!

This is a quote from onother forum. I am just wondering if there would be any adverse affects of using a tire product on plastic and other rubber parts?
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

Plenty of people use ASD or HD on tires, trim, and everything. Havent heard of Insane Shine being used yet on trim...

Can ASD or hot tire shine cause any damage to the paint? Will silicone harm anything? I think ASD has that in it.. Correct?

Neither of these products should harm or damage automotive paint if it comes into conact with it, however these products are not for application to paint and as such, if you accidently get a non-paint product on the paint, then you should do what you can to remove in a timely manner.

As far as silicone goes, as long as you follow the advice included above and of course this little piece of advise and that is to always match your product to the correct surface, i.e. apply a leather product to leather and paint care products to paint and you shouldn't have any problems.

Don't think I would use it... if it was that great on plastic it would say it on the bottle.

Thanks for the response mike. Lol, I dont plan on using tire shine on the paint.. I was just wondering if it coming off the tires on the Highway or something of the sort could cause spots on the paint that wouldnt come out..

Thanks so much again for what you did Mike. I cannot thank you enough for that..

I am not talking about using tire products on paint, but in other rubber and plastic parts.

I can run this through Mike Pennington and see what he says is Meguiar's official reply to this question. When Meguiar's discontinued M38 I remember seeing a suggested replacement was Gold Class Endurance, (Original), which is a tire dressing. Can't imagine this product doing anything negative to plastic or rubber parts. Order a bottle and giver it a test.

I use tire foam on all the plastic and rubber in my engine bay, and also in my wheel wells (and obviously my tires). Never have had a problem with it, and it is definitely a cheaper route to go then buying specific products for each.
