Re: rotory
"Find something that works and use it often"
As a rule, historically it has been shown with swirls, that rotary buffers tend to instill buffer swirls, holograms, or buffer trails into the paint. In the early stage of a full-on rotary buffer buff-out this is okay because you're likely removing serious defects and later you can remove these swirls. So as a rule it's usually not a good idea to allow your last step process to be the application or removal of any product using a tool that rotates on the surface via a direct drive mechanism. The physical contact and one direction rotating action tends to leave swirls that will show up, (eventually), in good/bright lighting.
A better option is to use a dual action polisher for your last step process. But hey... if it's working for you....

Re: rotory
Thanks mike,i kinda new you'd say that.Only in bright sunlite.I've seen other detail sites and these guys saying you can remove everthing. The've been in this stuff 15-30 yrs.[No way i can aford a pc].What do you think? you've been in this awhile. And it seems to me that the paint is "softer" now than when bc/cc first came out, last times i polished [then] i know it's been "awhile" i don't think i've lost all my touch, what do you think? THANKS mavrick

Re: rotory
Well this forum isn't about "Mike Phillips Opinion's", because this is a Meguiar's Corporate Discussion Forum, so with that said,
We can tell you what the Corporate opinion is on this and that is, it's possible to produce a 100% swirl free finish using only a rotary buffer but everything has to be perfect right down to product and pad choice as well as including the skill and technique of the craftsman doing the work.
One thing a person cannot control is the type of paint they're working on and some paints are more "polish-able" than others so even if you're the best polisher in the world, there are always going to be factors outside of your control.
If all you have is a rotary buffer then after your last rotary buffer step, rub the car down really well by hand with a product like M80 Speed Glaze and put a little passion behind the pad but no so much you mar the finish.
